The State of the Union

Oh Yes We Did! :)

I am so proud of all of us for standing up and saying "Enough!" So, so proud. And this just makes it even sweeter:
"It was the first time since Jimmy Carter in 1976 that a Democrat won the White House with more than 50 percent of the popular vote."

The majority of this country wants change. So now is the time to come together and work together to make this country stronger than ever. We can do it - and it will take all of us. I can not wait!

I'm very proud too and as I said on Dakota's blog taking a kind of perverse pleasure in seeing the collective head exploding going on down here in Red South Carolina!

I can honestly say that for the first time I am proud to be an American. It has always haunted me that there are people who judge others by the color of their skin or by their free choice of religion or whatever else. We are a great nation blended together of all types of people. Why do we waste our time worrying about what the next guy is doing. We should be uniting and respecting the fact that we are all different and work towards a greater tomorrow! Well, now we can. I am so hopeful that we can turn this ship around and make the future a wonderful place for our children. Did you see the view today? When Whoopi said that she can finally put down her suitcase. OMG, I lost it. So powerful. Anyhow- I am going on and on but boy am I proud!

I am so proud that not online did he won, he REALLY won. He inspired so many new voters, young voters, minority voters. I have no words for how I felt when my home state went blue (Virginia) I would have never guessed that, and I am SO proud of this moment in history.

Woot, woot, woot!! The people have spoken. Now we need to stand shoulder to shoulder with him. We can't be complacent. We just can't. He needs us with him.

how is the "majority" of the country 54%? that's barely more than half. so that means almost more than half of america does NOT want obama as president.

My response was:

Well, last time I checked half of 100 is 50 so 50 would be half. AND I learned in math class that 54 is MORE than 50...sooo beings it is MORE than half that would be majority!! Doesn't matter how much more, it's still majority!
Oh, and BTW, I'm not the only one who has stated this!!
Go visit a fellow blogger:

Oh, I refered your post to state that I wasn't the only one who believed this topic.

I suppose they did not learn proper math in school--
or they are just sore losers!!

Ree: You should have also mentioned that for Bush it was very tight (and infact, though he won the electoral votes he lost in the popular votes. Ironic.) which also means at least half of all American's didn't want Bush as a president either. YOu can't please all the people all the time. For the moist post, Republicans will vote the GOP ticket and Democrats will vote Democrat. So I think what that really means, is the country is basically split in half in what form of government they are drawn to.

Checks and balances all that jazz.

And I absolutely do not mind you using anything from my blog. I'm glad you found it useful. :)
