Look at This!

Kaylen grew flowers! Real, honest to goodness, flowers - from seeds!

A few months ago she became insistent that she needed to grow marigolds. Marigolds. Weird. We finally figured out that she heard about them on an episode of Max and Ruby. She would plant make believe flowers every day and would talk and talk about how she couldn't wait for them to grow. I couldn't take her heart being broken so she and I went to the garden center and bought flowering marigolds as well as a packet of seeds. I figured if the seeds didn't grow, she would still have her marigolds.

She took her job very seriously. She planted them, watered them daily and checked on them often throughout the day. The seeds started to sprout...and then grow. There were many, many, many growing in the containers - we even split some off and gave them to her grandpa. (She proudly handed them over with careful instructions on water and care. So darn cute!)

A week ago we noticed flower buds on her baby plants. And today - the flowers are opening and they look great!!

I still can't believe she grew them herself. And I have to tell you - she is so incredibly proud of her flowers.

Yay Kaylen!!

That is too cool! They look like very happy and loved flowers. Maybe she should come help me plant all my seeds (wink, wink).

Wow, She did great. My son loves flowers too. We have been so busy with the house, we haven't worked on the garden. Wish the kids lived closer and could garden together.

Okay, that's the sweetest thing I've ever read on any blog. Ever. Tell your little girl that she's got what it takes to do anything she wants to in life okay? Have a great 4th of July. -Monica

She deserves to be proud. Stacy & Madison planted some wildflowers and some sunflowers. I don't think the sunflowers are going to make it. Our look lovely I must say!

How sweet you indulged your babygirl and she kept at it. Unusual for her age. She's quite the kid!

Oh, good for her! That's terrific. I could use some help with our landscaping if Kaylen has any openings in her schedule.

Next summer you need to put her on produce duty! Make her grow you a salad!
