Why is it that a part you think should be a $7.00 part is more than 6 times that amount? Plus shipping.
A week ago the handle to our dryer lost its mind and popped out. Yeah yeah - it's worked hard for years and all but come on! It's not like it had a tough life.
I taped it in well enough to still function and then set about finding a replacement for it. No kidding - it's 4 inches by 2 inches. Tiny. necessary - but tiny.
I found it for the lowest price at PartSelect.com and yet it was still a staggering $35.86 plus shipping. I swear to you this thing couldn't possibly cost that much make. I'm betting $0.54 to make. I would have happily paid $7.00 for it.
I begrudgingly paid $35.86 plus shipping.
It arrived today and I snapped it into its new home. Doesn't it look nice?
But it sure doesn't look $35.86 nice! :)

Holy cow!! I'm so sorry. You know, this is a perfect example of why people get so frustrated in paying top dollar for little bits to make a repair. Instead we could replace the whole thing and throw the old one in a landfill, and people don't want to do that, but then, the parts people sure do make it hard for us to justify the continual repair instead...
It looks lovely though. Despite the heartache of paying the bill!
I hear you. I have been debating buying a new catch-it tray for my refrigerator door front water thing. The current one is somewhat yellowed. Also, a small piece of plastic that will cost over $30 to replce. I can't quite do it.
Suc ridiculousness pisses me off.
Hey I paid almost $300 for a spare key to my new Charger. Top THAT!
The only consolation is that handle replacement did not require a service call...which would have upped the cost of the $.54 part to a hundred bucks with labor.
