Fear Breeds Hatred

So given that little fact, I am going to have to go with "The Republicans are scared. Very, very scared." They have to be in order to stand up for the the past few days and spew as much hatred into the world.

Now I know neither side is blameless in the mud-slinging and I could sit here and say "Well - THEY started it!" (which may be quite true) but come on people; knock it off!

Yesterday Palin incited violence at a rally (Don't believe me? Google it.) and it seems it just keeps coming. Today was more "subtle" with her racist remarks:

The Alaska governor told Ingraham’s listeners that if those questions were being answered, voters would find Obama “out of the mainstream,” adding that the Illinois senator would diminish “the prestige of the United States presidency.”

Wow. Let's be a little more out and proud with our pandering to the people who are fearful of having a black man in the white house.

You know - if they were sticking to the issues I could respect that but the personal attacks just screams "We're scared and we want to terrify you and incite you so that you will vote for us! God knows we have no decent platform nor anything special to bring to the table so we're just going to work the fear angle because we know it will work!!"

And this "new" idea of McCain's about taking care of the people caught in the mortgage crisis? Well that's a post for another day but I will say this: look at the details of that plan. There are far too many words used that will make it so easy for them to do nothing. And it's only the houses already in foreclosure and only if you are deemed to have been "creditworthy" at the time of the loan and only....there are many steps to qualifying for help which means most people will not. It doesn't mention by whose standards this will all be measured either. Be weary of things without criteria. Read read read. Research research research. Do not fall for this one - he is counting on scared people to waffle in their decision and vote for their side by offering promises that, in all likelihood, are completely empty. Stand firm. Talk with your friends, spread the word and get facts before deciding.

There is a good plan out there somewhere - maybe it's not been dreamed of yet but I do not see where the one he is all of a sudden offering will help anyone (not to mention they will have to have each and every property appraised to current value which could take who knows how long). Too many holes. This one was thrown together to get votes when in fact, we do need a plan. A well thought out and attainable plan. By who I don't know. Maybe McCain will come up with it but be leery of this one. Read. Do your homework. Go to www.factcheck.org. It's a really good place to get the low down on everyone and what they are saying. Both sides.

So that's all I have for now. I'm most likely going to be "blog quiet" throughout the weekend. Not only am I buys painting the interior of the house we have a friend from California flying in for a visit in the morning.

So - I'll leave you with this; as new things pop up on the campaign hell in which we are living please do yourself the service of doing your homework before deciding one way or the other. Before we just believe - check it out. Before you DON'T believe - check it out.

Knowledge is power. And we as a people are so much better than the hatred being spread far and wide right now.
