Feeling Beachy

A friend called yesterday to invite the kids and I to a local beach that she discovered 3 miles from her new house so this morning I loaded up the sand toys, beach umbrella and various other things and we headed east a bit. We arrived at their house and was treated to playtime, chatting time and lunch before we all ventured out in the sun.

The beach was great! The river is beautiful but tricky as it stays shallow for a bit then, without warning, drops off. It was stressful for me to keep the kids safe while still allowing them to have fun. They were, of course, completely oblivious to the dangers of a river. But - mommy's stress level aside, the kids had a blast!

I know you're a good mommy and kaylen is a good swimmer, but I would strongly, strongly suggest she wear a life jacket in the river. Here in Sac, its the law. Even good adult swimmers can get swept away, especially if there is a drop off like you said.

*getting off soapbox*

sounds like a wonderful summer day :)

Thanks Kristen - after these photos were taken we put her in a lifejacket. Prior to that, she was within arms reach of an adult and being watched carefully.

Sounds like a good law - we don't have it here.

The water looks so clean and beautiful! My husband traveled out your way last week for business and just keeps talking about the beauty...That is why I try to keep him east of the Mississippi:)
