Fishies Graduate

Today was the last swimming lesson for the kids and I am very proud to announce that they both graduated from their levels and are moving up! Kelton passed with flying colors and is now ready for Level 3 and little Miss I-Can't-Keep-My-Face-Out-of-the Water-Look-at-Me-I-Can-Swim! is now ready for Pre Level 1.

I am very, very happy for them. :)

I promised them that once Dakota was done with the bar we would go swimming so they could show off all their new tricks. They can't wait!

Little Fish - or is that Walrus?

Kelton had his last swimming lesson of the session today and I could not be more proud if I tried. I honestly didn't expect this considering the rough start we initially got off to but....

He passed level 1! It's on to level 2 for this boy.

I had placed him on a waiting list to retake level 1 a couple weeks ago because I had no clue, and zero expectation, that he would actually pass on the first try. So after class, we stopped by the front desk and removed him for that waiting list and inquired about space in the next session for level 2. They had a spot for him so he will start level 2 in two weeks. Perfect!

He is so excited about his accomplishment and we are so proud of him! Yay Kelton - you rocked it!

Of course he also just gave us more ammunition for the whole "You can do anything you put your mind to" thing because well....clearly he can. :)

Swim Little Fishies, Swim!

The kids, along with their friends Carson and Katie, started swimming lessons last night. Kaylen loved it but Kelton...well...he wasn't so sure. From the look of things, it was going quite well but then he left his group and indicated to me that he had to go to the bathroom (which yes, he had done 15 minutes earlier). In the bathroom he melted into a puddle of tears and said he didn't want to do it. After talking with him and explaining that quitting isn't an option, he left me and rejoined his class. He just sat watching but at least he was with his class.

After the lesson Dakota and I showered him with praise over what he *had* done in the class and completely ignored what he hadn't. It seems to have worked and he is ready to go back tomorrow for his second lesson.

Kaylen, on the other hand, was giddy with joy over her experience and can't wait to go back. She said with a big happy smile, and I quote, "I'm going to do even better next time!"

Silly Little Fishy
