e-smoking

Have you seen the kiosks at the mall that sell the e-cigarettes? I saw the one at our mall for the first time recently and I admit I was a bit taken aback (I think it may be new but then, I don't venture out to the mall much anymore so what do I know?). There were three people standing around with cigarettes in their hands. It took me back in time to the days when people smoked everywhere - the grocery store, the mall, the line to visit Santa. It was just part of life and now, it's not so it was surreal to see it.

Apparently the thinking is that people can quit smoking but many go back because they want something in their hands. I guess that makes sense. I love having a big ol' cup of coffee in mine and feel kind of lost without in the afternoons after I have drained the pot. Yeah - not really the same thing but it's as close to it as I can get. :)

Have you, or someone you know, tried the e-cigarettes? What is/was the verdict?

Seriously? Like people are going to let you "smoke" one of these in the office or at a restaurant. However, it might be an interesting concept for someone like R who is an ex smoker and occasionally gets a hankering. That way if it really works like it says he would still be stink free and get his "fix". And not have to waste $ on a pack just for them to go stale.
